If you caught my recent home tour, you know that I went with an overall classic Americana theme for our home this summer. However, this is the first year I’ve added in patriotic decor and it was way easier than I imagined. If you want to inject a little patriotic pride into your own home, here are my three tips for incorporating simple 4th of July decor.
If you’ve been to my blog or Instagram before, chances are you know that my favorite color is blue. I mean, we have a blue house, and this blog’s name includes ‘blue.’ Blue transferware is my favorite. Heck, I’m even painting our baby girl’s nursery blue! I think you get the drift that I’m a blue smitten kitten. So when Arhaus reached out to me about their new color guides, I totally fell in love with the blue guide!
In that spirit, I decided to create an inspiration board with living room furniture from Arhaus combining my favorite tones and shades of blue. I’ve really been drawn to European farmhouse style recently as its a good blend of the styles that both my husband and myself love, so that’s the direction I took this board in. I have to say, it turned into a bit of my “dream living room,” and I wouldn’t be mad if all of this suddenly ended up in my house!
Hello, there! I am so excited to be joining forces with five of my talented blogging friends to bring y’all this Summer Home Tour sponsored by hayneedle.com. If you are coming here from Hayley’s tour, welcome! Her home is stunning, isn’t it? Once you are done here, be sure to head on over to Stephanie’s tour to see her fresh and bright master bedroom retreat and then scroll down to see the three ladies sharing their homes tomorrow – you don’t want to miss them!
A little backstory for any of y’all who are new here… we bought our 1980’s neglected, builder basic, colonial style home almost three years ago and have slowly been renovating it one DIY project at a time. The outside was a mess, but the inside needed our immediate attention to be livable and functional for our little family. Last year we finally started plucking away at the exterior and while we’ve accomplished a ton, there’s so many more things we’d like to do – inside and out! So now y’all have been warned that not every area is completely finished per se (I’m still looking at you half painted trim!).
Now enough chatting. Lets dive on in shall we?! So grab your fave beverage and get comfy as I take you through our summer home.

When we were awaiting the birth of our first child, my husband searched high and low for baby gear that was dad friendly. He wanted his own diaper bag and everything that goes with it. Apparently, I’m disorganized and he didn’t want to mess with my haphazard diaper bag. (Insert eye roll emoji.) However, it was quite difficult to find baby gear made with dad in mind. Well, my friends, if you know a dad-to-be who is in this same boat, look no further! I’ve rounded up a slew of my (and my husband’s) favorite dad friendly baby gear just in time for Father’s Day. Whether the dad-to-be in your life is tech savvy, outdoorsy or anywhere in between, these sleek and functional picks are sure to be a hit.

Some of my earliest memories are of baking with my mom and grandmother. From learning to make Hello Dollies with my mom and our disastrous attempt at no bake cookies, to being covered in flour making peach fried pies from scratch with my Mimi, so many of my most precious memories took place in the kitchen. Now, Ava loves to perch on our kitchen counter and help me whip up a batch of her favorite sprinkle cupcakes. Baking is something that has connected the women in my family through numerous generations. When I was brainstorming ideas for Mother’s Day gifts for the special ladies in my life, I thought what better to give them than items that relate to something we all love – baking!
Here, I’ve rounded up some of my very favorite baking inspired gifts for mom!
Ahh, Spring. One of my very favorite seasons! The earth is coming alive again. Everything is so green and bright and pretty. Its a gorgeous season.
To keep things simple, I incorporated as many fresh blooms as possible into my Spring decor and supplemented with faux stems and greenery. By mixing the two, this keeps cost down and effort low. That’s a win/win in my book!
This post has been a long time in the making and I almost don’t know where to start!
Let me put a disclaimer out there upfront: our kitchen is far from “finished” or perfect. There are still numerous projects we would like to tackle when time and money allow, there’s tons of painting that still needs finished (I’m looking at you miles of trim), but for under $2000, we’ve been able to transform our dark and dated 1980’s space into a light and bright farmhouse kitchen.
Micah and I have known for a month now, but its officially official… We are adding another little GIRL to our family! I love all things pink and feminine so I am over the moon to create another little girl’s room. We kept all of Ava’s baby things, just in case this situation ever arose and now I’m extremely glad we did. In an attempt to save some moolah, we are reusing most everything from her nursery. I’m imagining a soft, cottage-y room inspired by my love of Anne of Green Gables.
The January doldrums. Y’all know what I’m talking about. January rolls around and the Christmas decorations come down. Suddenly, your house seems empty without the warmth and glow of twinkle lights. Then winter really slaps you in the face and everything just seems…blah. I know I’m not alone!
This year I was determined to fight said doldrums by keeping our winter decor nice and cozy. With a few simple changes, we have a cozy winter bedroom, and I am loving it!
