We’ve had this little coffee bar area set up in our kitchen for about six months now, and let me just tell you – its been a game changer! I love having all of our beverage items corralled in the same area. However, the best part might just be all of the counter space I freed up – you can never have too much counter space, am I right?! Creating a similar DIY coffee bar is even easier than you might imagine. With a little space and a few simple elements, you can have your very own!
Here are my five tips for creating a coffee bar. Some affiliate links are included. See my full disclosure HERE.
1. The bar itself.
This can be an unused corner in your kitchen, a bar cart or any other piece of furniture.
We are currently using a antique dresser that we snagged for a steal several years ago. Think outside of the box. Anything with a solid top will work!
2. Mug storage.
I love having this standing mug rack right beside our coffee maker.
It makes it so easy in the mornings to just grab a cup and get my brew on. Also consider a wall mug rack or even a cool shelf with hangers. There really are so many options out there that work perfectly for coffee cup storage.
3. Coffee maker(s).
I say makers because we have three on our coffee bar. I know. Excessive. (Insert eye covering monkey emoji.)
4. Beverage storage.
On and around our coffee bar, we have K-cups, hot tea, hot chocolate, chocolate milk, espresso and ground coffee stored. Once again, excessive. But it makes it super easy to locate and prepare any drink you want.
For K-cups and other packaged drink mixes, I recently snagged this hanging metal basket for 50% off at Hobby Lobby and its been perfect! For loose drink mixes, I bought these containers from Ikea. I love being able to see how low we are on things so I can add it to the grocery list. As an added bonus, they look really pretty all lined up so they double as decor.
Having one or two shelves over your coffee bar is so useful! They’re the perfect place to store items that won’t fit on the bar itself Plus, they are so fun to decorate and dress up! My newest favorite addition is this Farmhouse Coffee sign by The Lizton Sign Shop.
There are so many different options for shelves and wall storage, too. I went with simple white shelves with black metal brackets from Lowe’s, but I’ve seen tons of options that combine shelving, baskets and hooks. The choices are endless.
Do you have a coffee bar? If not, I highly recommend it and hope this posts gives you a little inspiration!
