If you know me well, you know I love Harry Potter. So when it came to decorating our home for Halloween, I knew a Harry Potter theme was the way to go!
I went the lazy girl route and focused on a few areas of our house, mainly repurposing and reusing things we already had on hand. I also wanted it to still be Halloween-y and not over the top cheesy so less was really more. First up is our fireplace and builtin bookshelves.
This wall is the main focal point of our living room, so I wanted something impactful, yet with minimal effort and cost. Enter these stick on spiders from Target’s Dollar Spot. At $3 a pop, they were the perfect way to easily transform our fireplace into something straight outta Harry Potter.
“If anyone wanted ter find out some stuff, all they’d have ter do would be ter follow the spiders. That’d lead ‘em right! That’s all I’m sayin’.” – Rubeus Hagrid, Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets
Naturally, I included a few other small touches to evoke a “Forbidden Forest” feeling like the large black lantern that I can imagine Hagrid carrying, a small chalkboard sign pointing you in the right direction and a sweet little owl.
I also added a few spiders on our bookshelves to tie it all in!
Here’s the final cost breakdown for our Harry Potter fireplace:
- Spider’s from Target (3 packs) – $9
- Spider garland from Target – $3
That brings the grand total to $12!! With a few budget friendly purchases and some out of the box thinking, I was able to create a fun and simple Harry Potter inspired focal point in our living room for Halloween!
Do y’all decorate for Halloween? Are you a big fan of Harry Potter, too?? I’d love to hear, so leave me your answer in the comments and thanks for stopping by. xx
