Today is all about the rest of our living room. This is where we spend the majority of our time, so I wanted it to be fun without being overwhelming or competing with our fireplace. As I said in my first post, “less is more” was the key to keeping things themed and not cheesy. I also stuck to the same neutral color palette with pops of black and orange that I used in the other areas.
This antique dresser sits just as you enter the room from our entry and is one of my favorite spots to decorate. My vintage typewriter has been living here the past few months.
I thought adding the Daily Prophet printable was a cute touch – it may actually be my favorite part of all of our Halloween decor. It took me forever to find a printable version, and now I cannot find the link to it to save my life. If I’m able to find where I got it, I’ll update this and link it up!
I kept the rest of the decor surrounding it pretty simple. Some of my vintage books look spooky and spell bookish when turned with the pages facing out. Some branches, an antique inspired candlestick, another owl and a few little pumpkins round out the vignette nicely.
When I picture Hogwarts, I think of candles everywhere, and I wanted to bring some of that into our home.
Behind our couch, I added the candlesticks we used at our wedding along with orange candles. Recently, my parents brought me that cute little dragon that they had bought me years ago. Our local bookstore had them to promote one of the Harry Potter book releases.
I added my copy of Tales of Beedle the Bard to our coffee table tray. We actually visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter a few years ago. I was pregnant with our daughter when we visited and bought this book for her nursery.
A big fat goose egg! I already had everything on hand. Whoo hoooooo!
So, what do y’all think?? I have to say, this has been the most fun I’ve ever had decorating for Halloween. I truly love all of the Harry Potter touches. I’m almost sad to take it all down in a few days! As always, I’d love to hear from ya so leave me a comment letting me know your take on my Harry Potter Halloween Series! xx
