A couple of months ago, my best friend and her husband adopted the sweetest baby boy on the planet, and she asked me to help her come up with a plan for his nursery! It was so fun for me to get to delve into the realm of boy stuff since its all girl over here. Both my bestie and her hubby are very adventurous and love to travel, so we used that as a jumping off point as inspiration for the nursery. Here’s a little glimpse of what we came up with.
The two prints by Katie Daisy were the first things that were purchased for the nursery, so that gave us a great place to start. They perfectly captured the whimsical adventurous spirit we really wanted for the room. The two tone dresser was also an early addition. This isn’t the exact same dresser, but it has a similar feel, although the turquoise is softer on the one in Jude’s room.
The second thing that fell into place was the quilt by Needle and Grain. I’ve already mentioned how much I love their shop here, and this quilt is no exception. The arrows tied in so well with the outdoor feeling without being too rustic, which was something we were trying to avoid. It also brought in a bit of masculinity to balance out the colorful prints. I love how the arrow mobile accentuates the arrows in the quilt (I might try my hand at DIYing something similar), and the campfire night light, lantern lamp, and sweet little fox storage box help round out the decor and also bring a bit more whimsy to the room.
I ended up DIYing a similar globe with the saying “Oh the places you’ll go,” the Where the Wild Things Are art, a tassel garland and also the Greatest Adventure sign. All were used as decorations for the baby shower some friends and I hosted in Jude’s honor, as well as to be gifts for the nursery.
I feel like we were really able to capture a fun, boyish, adventurous feeling for this nursery for a very loved little man. I’m hoping to go visit him and his mama soon to help put the finishing touches on this darling room and get in some sweet baby cuddles!
I’d love to hear what you think of our plans and inspiration for this outdoor adventure nursery!
