My husband was finally able to locate the pictures of our house that were taken during the appraisal process last Summer. I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t do a very good job of taking before pictures as we were moving in. Our daughter was
trying to see if I would die of exhaustion going through a sleep regression phase at the time, and I wasn’t functioning that well, so these are really the only pictures we have. These were taken before the old owners moved out. However, they left a ton of stuff behind, so most of the knick knacks that you see were there for us to deal with. We actually spent almost a whole day moving things out (and then disinfecting like it was going out of style) before we could move any of our stuff in.
I feel like most of the pictures speak for themselves, so I’ll just let you soak it all in.
As I was going back and looking through all of these, I just kept thinking, “What were we thinking?!” These do a pretty good job of capturing the terrible state the house was in when we purchased it. As I said before, the previous owners neglected everything. Cleaning, maintenance, the landscape. Everything. As bad as these photos are, they are a good reminder to me of just how far we’ve come with the house. Some days its overwhelming when I think of all of the things that still need to be done. I need to remind myself of how much we’ve accomplished already and seeing these horrible “before” pictures did just that.
We both knew that buried under all of the clutter was a charming house that could be a show stopper with some love and attention. Its not quite there yet, but we are on the right path!
