I posted a quick (i.e. rushed) tour of our new house on my Instagram stories shortly after we moved in. However, I wanted to document the before of our house here on the blog too so its easy to have a place to refer back to. I did a terrible job of capturing the before of our blue house (and it was a doozy!). I love seeing before and afters, myself, so I was determined to do a better job this time. Without further adieu, here she is in all of her builder basic glory.
And I apologize for the wonky photos. I was rushing to get pictures of every space before we brought everything in!
- The Living & Dining Rooms
From the front door, you immediately walk into the living room which is open all the way to the dining room. So far, we are loving how open these spaces are, even though they’ve posted a few design conundrums for me! There’s a small hallway to the right of the stairs with a hall closet and powder bath that connects to the kitchen.
- The Kitchen
I will say, this kitchen is a definite upgrade from our last. We have lots of counter space – with granite countertops, a subway tile backsplash, and ample cabinet space. I’m not in love with the dark cabinets. In fact, I’m itching to paint them, but everyone has overruled me. They are very nice, just not the color I would have chosen, especially since the kitchen doesn’t get a ton of natural light and is one of the darkest rooms in the house.
- The Master Suite
We went from barely being able to walk around our bed in the blue house to having a bedroom with more space than we even know what to do with! I really love all of the natural light our room gets and the vaulted ceilings.
- Ava’s Room
Ava’s room is a bit dark, like the kitchen, but it makes for great sleeping!
- Clara’s Room
Clara’s room is tiny but has two large windows and gets the best natural light. Its perfect for her nursery, but we might end up having the girls share Ava’s room and turning this into a playroom down the road.
- The Guest Bath
The girls (and guests) have their own bathroom upstairs. Which means our shower is finally free of bath toys! Hooray!
We also have a fourth bedroom upstairs that serves as Micah’s office and a guest room. For some reason I didn’t get any before pictures of it but if you’ve seen one empty bedroom, you’ve seen them all, right? (And you’ve now seen three – sorry.)
I’m looking forward to transforming this house into a home, making new memories here and taking y’all along on our new adventure!
